Hi, I’m Kevin. I write stories, lyrics and create spaces for others to do the same.
Thanks for stopping by.
MY WORK : Told. Sung. Shared.
STORIES
The love for telling stories is at the heart of my work. Writing for character, the finesse and nuance of a great plot, and the urge to communicate themes and ideas that matter to me – and to take risks doing so – are what drive my original musicals.
In musical theatre, “original” can often also mean adapting an existing work of art for the stage – and I find deep joy in having those artistic conversations, sometimes even across time and space.
Crafting a meaningful experience for the audience with all the possibilities theatre has to offer is a challenge and a blessing – sometimes even a monster. But I thank God it found me.
LYRICS
Language that sings is a fascinating creature especially in German. Writing lyrics means shaping thought and feeling into rhythm and sound.
Though I’ve dabbled in songwriting for pop and classical Kunstlied, my passion lies in lyrics for stage characters finding that sweet spot where every word feels natural in the scene, yet carries the clarity and emotional trigger great song lyrics can unlock.
Almost half of my lyric work lives in German adaptations of Broadway shows: carrying songs across languages, cultures and syllable counts without losing their soul – no matter if the tone and style vary widely, from Hamilton to Aladdin, from Crazy for You to Chicago, and beyond.
I believe good adaptation isn’t about translating words it’s about translating emotion.
SPACES
You can’t do musicals alone. Collaboration and communication are what theatre runs on – or stumbles on. I’ve always seen myself as a team player.
Even if you’re one of those rare geniuses who can write book, music and lyrics, you still need a whole tribe to get a musical onto the stage. At times, this endeavour can feel daunting – and evenwhen I was still trying to nd my own footing in the industry, I began creating spaces for others to share their work and grow.
I take great joy in providing opportunities for fellow writers, teaching craft, and sharing what I’ve learned so far – and I’m excited for what’s still to come.
